Simplicity of Download, Scanning, and Repair: The RegCure software user window was a quick download (only 6.4 MB of hard drive space) and was simple to understand and utilize. The interface has navigation buttons that are well explained and straight forward. RegCure is a good choice for both non technical versus technical people due to features that will be explained below. This software supports Windows 98 all the way through Vista. File Back Up System RegCure contains an automatic back up system to protect the previous state of your registry files that existed before the repair. This is a peace of mind feature as you know you can always reverse the repair if you choose. In addition, you can choose which errors you want repaired after the scan so that sensitive registry keys and files remained untouched. This is a good choice for advanced users. Novice users to the software can trust the software for the safest possible repair. Standout Features: The most noticeable feature of RegCure is the large number of setting choices, including scanning conveniences. It is nice to be able to customize software choices to your preferences, which RegCure easily does. Another great aspect of this software is the FAQ and knowledge database. This provides both support as well as education (for those who want it). Scan Category Options: RegCure passed the test in terms of scan categories needed in an effective Windows registry cleaner. The scan categories are Com/Active X, Uninstall Entries, Font Entries, Shared DLLs, Application Paths, Help Files Information, Windows Startup Items, File/Path References, Program Shortcuts, Empty Registration Keys, and File Associations. After scanning your registry, the software will give you descriptions of the problems detected. Product Weaknesses: After a detailed RegCure review, we have few complaints about this software. One area that RegCure can improve is in email support. We had trouble getting responses for two of our email inquiries, which could have easily been solved through other support methods if needed. Plus, software of this simplicity level rarely requires support of any type. The software passed all of our tests anyway without support needed. Our Recommendation: RegCure was hands down our top scoring of 28 of the best registry cleaners reviewed. On the first scan, RegCure found 1,696 registry issues in our test computer. When we repaired the errors, only one file/path reference issue did not clear. A second scan fixed it immediately. We were impressed by this product. It was a good feeling to know that the product was effective from the first use and that it comes with a one year unlimited use license which allows the user to maintain their registry’s stability throughout the year.
